Kapolei, O'ahu.  A formal announcement was mailed to Hawaiian Homestead Association throughout the state from the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) asking residents to "mark and reserve" Wednesday, March 26, 2008 as a special day for celebrating Prince Kuhio's Birthday and to join in the dedication ceremonies of the Department new headquarters, Hale Kalanianaole!

The events including time schedules will be finalized and announced through an official website, www.kapoleihomestead.com for the general public and homesteaders to find out "up-to-date" information.  Also, application forms for "vendors" and "participants" are available should any groups or organizations are interested to participate.

The celebration will include the DHHL Dedication and Blessing Ceremony, a Prince Kuhio Parade along Kapolei Parkway and a "Ho'olaulea" to conclude the days events and activities.  "We're excited and anxiously anticipating alot of wonderful ideas and participation by all the homestead associations on O'ahu and throughout the State" say Shirley Swinney, Maluoha'i Homestead Association President and Chair of the Prince Kuhio Parade and Ho'olaulea activities.

"Waimanalo Hawaiian Homes Association has submitted their float entry application and announced it during their 2008 Celebration Dinner on January 7th to their general membership" says Moana Akana, WHHA Prince Kuhio Co-Chairperson.  "The WHHA Committee met, brain stormed and have already designed the float entry and everyone will be pleasantly surprised as to our innovative, but respectful portrayal of our Prince Kuhio and his contribution to our Hawaiian people."

Paul Richards, WHHA President added, "We're excited and hope everyone, homesteaders and non-homesteaders including every citizen of Hawaii share with us the joy and learning opportunity of knowing Prince Kuhio and his legacy."
