Maluohai Kupuna Couple Leads Gathering with Closing Himeni at WHHA Dedication PDF Print E-mail

Waimanalo, Hawaii.  The Waimanalo Hawaiian homesteaders were blessed with the opportunity to witness and listen to the melodic voices of Kau‘i and Leo Kama, na kupuna from Maluohai Resident Association Hawaiian homesteaders from Kapolei.

 

Helping to lead Aunty Mary Ann with “Ho‘onani I Ka Makua Mau” as the opening himeni, the provided prelude music and entertainment that preceded the ceremony.  Paul Richards announced, “We wanted to have this special couple to share with us their music, but also aunty Kau‘i great tutu composed “Ua Mau” our closing himeni.  It was this himeni which Aunty Lydia Hale had us all sing prior to her offering a pule at our groundbreaking and it is only appropriate for us to sing this at our completion to bring to closure our long-term strategic plan.”
